Allen Van Osdol
April 30,1945 - March 4, 2017
Allen passed away Saturday March 4th at home. He was surrounded by family and love. Allen was born in Indianapolis on April 30, 1945 to Allen and Marjorie (McAfee) Van Osdol.
He married Diane Kozack on August 17, 2001. Allen was the love of Diane's life.
Allen was a proud and honorable Navy Veteran. A Military Honor Guard will be in attendance.He was a former Police Chief in Brooklyn, Indiana. Allen was a Lifetime member of VFW and had memberships in DAV and The American Legion.
Allen was a published author of 2 books, Navy Proud And A Time To Remember. Allen's sisters were co-authors on A Time To Remember.
Allen had a great sense of humor. Regardless of how he was feeling he always answered the "how are you" question with a strong "I'm doing great, how about you"
Allen is survived by his 2 daughters, Carolyn (James) Largent and Dana (Cathy)Drizis. Allen is also survived by his adored 15 month old grandson, Allen Michael Drizis.
Allen was the first born of 7 children. He is survived by Carla (Jerry) England, Debbie (Rich) Gerlach, Rich (Lois) VanOsdol, Mary Van Osdol Fletcher, Beth (Randy) Light and Bill Van Osdol.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with military rites. Service officiated by Jeff Farrell, a much beloved friend. Visitation will be from 12-2 Tuesday, interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery North.
