On Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, L. Ann Malott, loving wife and mother of two children passed away at the age of 82.

Ann was born on March 27, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Viola and William Brooks. On Aug. 6, 1959 she married Joseph Malott. They had their first son, Kevin, in 1961 and their second son, Christopher, in 1966. The family moved in 1968 to Crawfordsville where Joe had attended and graduated from Wabash College.

Ann immediately immersed herself into the community and became a fixture in local organizations and charities. Her passion for helping individuals and mobilizing others quickly benefitted the Crawfordsville community as she became the director for the Montgomery United Fund for You, MUFFY, in 1972. In 1993, Ann doubled her efforts when she also became the director of the Montgomery County Community Foundation, MCCF. She served in both of these capacities from 1993 to 2001 when she stepped down from her MUFFY involvement to concentrate on the rapidly growing community foundation. Over Ann's four decade career she was instrumental in raising and distributing tens of millions of dollars in her beloved community.

Ann was known widely by people all over Indiana not only for her public charity but for her personal relationships. She leaves a legacy of beginning and nurturing lifelong friendships. She was well-known as a giver of thoughtful gifts and she loved sharing her time and heart with everyone she met.

Ann is survived by her husband, Joe; her two sons, Kevin and Chris; and her 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ann's funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 at First United Methodist Church on Wabash Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, Ann's family would like donations sent to the Montgomery County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 334, Crawfordsville, IN 47933, with the name, Ann Malott, in the memo field. All donations will be deposited in the Joseph and Ann Malott Fund and will be used to benefit Ann's lifelong endeavor, helping the community through the ongoing efforts of MCCF.
