Obituary

B. Carl Bruder, 85, of Crawfordsville,
passed from this life into the next Sunday at his
son's home.
Mr. Bruder retired from
Bruder Realty,
which he
owned and
operated for 14
years. Prior to Bruder Realty,
he worked at First National
Bank and Trust Company for
19 years, aspiring to senior
vice president in charge of
the real estate division. His
first employment in the community
was as assistant
county agent beginning in
1952.
Mr. Bruder was a long-time
member of the First United
Methodist Church, where he
taught Sunday school, sang
in the choir, was former Sunday
school superintendent
and a volunteer in many
areas. He was a member of
the Masonic Lodge and Kiwanis
Club, where he was former
president and active in
the travel and adventure
series. He enjoyed participating
in Boy Scouts.
He was a 1943 graduate
of Tampico, Ill. High School,
where he as both the salutatorian
and secretary. He
enlisted in the Navy in 1943
to serve his country during
World War II. He was a First
Class Radioman aboard the
L.S.T. 939 commissioned to
transport Marines from the
West Coast to Japan in the
Pacific Campaign until 1946.
After the war, he entered Purdue
University on the G.I. Bill
and graduated with a bachelor's
degree in agriculture in
1951.
He was born Nov. 18,
1924, in Prophetstown, Ill., to
Henry and Reta Sharp Bruder.
He married Freida Barnes
on Sept. 14, 1952. She is
deceased.
Survivors include: a son,
Randy Bruder of Crawfordsville;
a daughter, Alisa
Bruder Smith of Crawfordsville;
a twin brother,
Bernard of Sterling, Ill.; two
grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
He also was preceded in
death by two brothers, Wayne
and Clyde, and his sister, Ila
Mae.

Funeral services are
scheduled for 2 p.m.Wednesday
at Hunt and Son Funeral
Home, 107 N. Grant Ave.,
with the Rev. and Dr. R. Clayton
Kendall officiating. Dr. Les
Hearson will give a memorial
eulogy. Friends may call from
4-7 p.m.Tuesday at the funeral
home. Burial will be at Oak
Hill Cemetery North Mausoleum.
Memorial donations may
be made to the Parkinson's
Disease Research Institute.
