Barbara Ellen (Eitnier) Alward passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Crawfordsville.

She was born May 28, 1927, to Raymond and Agatha (Oyler) Eitnier in Hillsboro IN. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in 1945. She worked in her parent's drug store and for Hillsboro State Bank.

She married Arista Lowell Alward on May 28, 1960, at Hillsboro Methodist Church. They were married for 56 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Patrick Lowell Alward.

Survivors include her daughter Peggy Ellen (Tyler) Baumgardner of New Ross, Three grandsons Joshua Brian (Maria) Hesler of Crawfordsville Steele Ian Baumgardner of New Ross, IN, and Dregan (Kiyana) Baumgardner of Portland, OR. Great Grandkids include Jayda, Damien, Brooklyn, Lacey, Kyler, Christopher, and her beloved dog (Dawg).

She was a 50-year member of Home Ec., Montgomery County Tractor Club, Brownie leader in Hillsboro, and Girl Scout Leader in Crawfordsville. She belonged to the Red Hot Club in Crawfordsville and Edinburg, TX where she and her husband were "Snowbirds" for 10 years.

She attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was attending Mace Methodist Church. She had attended a Women's Methodist Conference in Iowa and worked at the Fish Food Pantry. Her hobbies include collecting Giraffe's, Buttons, shells, and postcards. She loved camping, campfires, Pacers basketball, NASCAR, Old country-western music, and train and bus trips. She (Granny) was loved by all.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 19 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Tami Mussche officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Friday. Interment will follow in the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery.
