Barbara Jane Ford died Monday May, 13, 2013 in Crawfordsville surrounded by family. She was born September 25, 1932 at DeMotte, IN to the Reverend Donald L. True and Violet "Sammy" Irene Norman True. The family moved to Crawfordsville in 1934. After her mother passed away in 1939, Barbara was raised by her father with the help of her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Mae True and her aunts, Mrs. Ava (Fred) Brown and Mrs. Bonnie ( Johnnie) Delano, then stepmother, Edna True.
Barbara graduated from Alamo High School in 1950. After graduation she worked for R.R. Donnell's in Crawfordsville, where she met her husband of 59 years, Ralph O. Ford. Barbara and Ralph were married July 1st, 1953 by the Reverend Guy Tremaine in Waynetown, Indiana.
Barbara was a homemaker while her children were growing up, and then returned to work at Donnell's for a time and later worked at Long Engineering in Waveland. She was active in Sugar Creek Players and was a member of New Hope Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother and aunts, uncle Harry "Mark" True, and brothers, Leal J. True and Michael D. True.
She is survived by her husband Ralph, daughter Connie (Richard) Pack, son John Ford, sisters, Mrs. Phyllis (Ron) Murphy, Mrs. Carol (Ron) Hedge, Mrs. Peggy (Bob) Campbell, brothers Rev. Tom (Jan) True, Russell (Leeann) True, stepmother Mrs. Edna Baker, first cousin Mrs. Norma (Tony) Palomino, grandchildren Krishna Marcum, Mason Ford, Dustin Nelson, Nicole Gaylord, Richelle Jeffries, Richard Pack III and Aimee Ford, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place 2:00 PM Wednesday May 15th at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Murphy officiating. Friends may call Tuesday May 14th from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
