Barbara Jean Hintz, 96, of Crawfordsville passed away at Wellbrooke on September 10, 2023. She passed peacefully during the Colts season opener game. The Colts brought her so much enjoyment over the years that she would have been pleased at this timing.
Barbara was born January 28, 1927, in Oak Park, IL to Byron and Alice (Wilson) McBride.
On May 6, 1953, she married Donald W. Hintz. He passed away on September 9, 1999.
Barbara graduated Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Illinois and attended Carthage College in Carthage, Illinois.Barbara worked at Lake Forest College, Purdue University, California Pellet Mill and retired from Hintz Equipment in 1996. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and attended Rock Point Church. She was a volunteer at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville as a Pink Lady from 2000-2016.
Survivors include one son, Ed Hintz of Crawfordsville, four daughters, Carol (Jack) Foos of Crawfordsville, Donna (Rob) Hughes of Noblesville, Lynne Newlin of Crawfordsville, and Barbee (Larry) Pettit of Crawfordsville. She had 10 grandchildren and 19 Great grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Alice McBride; husband, Don Hintz; sister, Muriel Quasi and brother, Bud McBride; and Son-in-law, Ron Newlin, Crawfordsville.
The family would like to thank Home by Choice Home Health Care Service for all the great ladies that have helped as caregivers for most of the last seven years. Most of these ladies became lasting friends. The family would also like to thank the staff at Wellbrooke for their compassionate care and love during her last months.
Cremation was chosen with a private chapel service to be held at Crown Hill Cemetery at a later date. Hunt & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family.
