Betty Maxine Carver, 87, of Crawfordsville, passed away in her home on March 23, 2023, following a five-year battle with cancer.

She was born August 28, 1935, in Crawfordsville to Leroy and Nettie Yeley nee Fields.

Betty worked at the shirt factory and Carl's Restaurant before meeting Lee Oren Griffin. They married in 1960. In 1966, she suffered the unexpected death of her husband Griff. She didn't dwell on the negative, she chose to be positive despite her circumstances. Showing her true grit, she went back to work to provide for her four children.

On March 9, 1968, Betty married David Noel Carver. She was a devoted homemaker but also worked at the Snappy Sandwich Shop and cleaned homes for select clients. She developed close friendships with many of her clients and continued working for them into her seventies. Betty and David attended the First Baptist Church. She was greatly comforted by their grief support group following David's death in 2012 after 44 years of marriage.

Betty had a sweet smile and a beautiful spirit. She considered the interests of others as greater than her own. She loved flowers and when she wasn't busy at home, making sure everyone had something to eat or drink, she could be found adding beauty to our town as a member of the Flower Lovers Club.

Betty was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Powell, LeRoy Yeley, Fred Yeley and Perry Yeley. She is survived by brother Archie "Doc" (Bonnie) Yeley, sister-in-law Karen Yeley, special Niece, Phyllis (Joe) Boswell, four children, Clayton "Tony" Griffin, Clarance "Bing" Griffin, Oren "Opie" (Angela) Griffin, and Lana "Sis" Burnau, 6 grandchildren, David Griffin, Melissa Tate, Mindy Robinson, Stephen Griffin, Elaine Griffin, Hannah Burnau, and 7 great-grandchildren.
