Brian Robert Bowman, 24,
of Crawfordsville died Jan. 3
in Afghanistan.
Mr. Bowman was a medic
with the U.S. Army. He was
also a Nationally Registered
Emergency Medical Technician,
or NREMT.
He enlisted in the U.S.
Army in August 2006, and
served in Operation Enduring
Freedom. He moved to
Ft. Carson, Colo. in April
2007. He was deployed to
Afghanistan in May 2009, and
was assigned to 1st Battalion,
12th infantry Regiment,
4th Brigade Combat Team,
4th Infantry Division of Fort
Carson, Colo.
Mr. Bowman's awards
include the Army Good Conduct
Medal, Afghanistan
Campaign Medal with Campaign
Star, Global War on Terrorism
Service Medal, Army
Service Ribbon, NATO Medal,
and combat medic badge. He
was also a bronze star and purple
heart recipient.
He was a member of
Woodland Heights Christian
Church, and graduated from
Southmont High School.
He was born July 24, 1985
in Crawfordsville to Jill Milligan.
He married Casie Carter
on June 16, 2007. She survives.

The funeral
will be at 10 a.m.Wednesday
at Woodland Heights Christian
Church. Revs. Tony Thomas
and Steve Wilke will officiate.
Burial will follow at Waveland
Presbyterian Cemetery with
military honors. Visitation
hours are scheduled for 1-
4:30 p.m. and 5:30-8 p.m.
Tuesday at the church.
