Carolyn Louise Gilliland, 77 of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday in her home surrounded by her children.

She was born 8/23/1937 in Crawfordsville to Otis & Geneva Bir Wharff; she was a Crawfordsville High School graduate. She married Don Gilliland on November 14, 1959.

She was a homemaker and home care provider for many years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, her children's school activities being with friends, cooking and was especially well known for her chicken & noodle dinners and noodle making skills. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Eagles, Eagles Auxiliary, and the American Legion.
Carolyn was a one of a kind person who always had a smile on her face, a kind word for everyone and didn't know a stranger. She was a people person and thoroughly enjoyed her life and all those who were in it.

Carolyn is survived by her children Tracy (Tim) Dehne, Mike (Deb) Gilliland, Matt (Denise) Gilliland all of Crawfordsville and Stepson Steve (Robin) Gilliland of Mishawaka. She is also survived by her sister Jane Wharff of Crawfordsville and grandchildren Cole, Maggie, Ryan, Allison, Mitchell and Jake.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, Parents, Brothers Wayne, Bernard & John, and Sister Phyllis, & Mona.

Our mom was a true lover of live who lived life to its fullest. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her but the memories we will cherish forever. When the heart grieves for what is lost, the spirit rejoices for what is left.

Visitation will be from 4-8 Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. A private interment service will take place Tuesday.
