Catherine J. Wren Coffing

Catherine J. Wren Coffing, 92, died 3:50 a.m. Sunday in Ben Hur Nursing Home.
Mrs. Coffing was employed in downtown Crawfordsville with Penney's, The Golden Rule, Baxter's Drug Store, Wilson Brothers Shirt Factory and Montgomery Ward's.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She was educated in Michigan City and Crawfordsville.
She was born Jan. 12, 1914 to James Edwin and Susannah Elizabeth McGilliard Wren. She was the only child born at the old Montgomery County Jail. Her grandfather, Frank Wren, was sheriff at the time of her birth and her mother prepared and delivered meals to the jail. She married Carroll Stanfield Coffing Sept. 2, 1939. He is deceased.
Survivors include children Ernest W. (Cheryl) Coffing, Cathy J. (Bob) Weliever, C.E. 'Rusty" (Debbie) Coffing; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Four sisters, Frances Denhart, Mary Margaret Bradford, Agnes Northen and Eleanor Jane Paramore; two children, infant son James William and Theodore D. (Lou) Coffing are deceased.
Funeral services are scheduled noon Wednesday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Father Paul Graf officiating. Friends may call 10-noon Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Grant Avenue.
