Charles Francis Taylor, Sr.

Charles Francis Taylor, Jr. passed on September 27, 2026 at 11:00 PM at the age of 78 surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his home. Born to Dorthy and Charles F. Taylor on May 1, 1948, in Bridgeport Connecticut, Charlie was a devoted son, loving husband, cherished father, funny uncle, fierce friend, and overall a guy who was easy to spark conversation with. Even worked as the Town Board President in Darlington for a time, a community he may not have been raised in, but one he was incredibly proud to be a part of.

A man who had an easy, bright smile, Charlie loved cars and really anything to do with driving. He found comfort in some classic tv shows, 1970s comedies, but most of all, he found the biggest and warmest comfort in his family and loved ones. Quick to share a story of lessons learned in his 78 years, he was easy to make friends, and a loyal friend you always had in Charlie. He was proudest when talking about his children, wife, and grandkids.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles Francis Taylor III, Susan Hodge (Randy), Gretchen Voege Taylor-Santiago (Kevin), Joshua Taylor (Donna), Andrew Taylor (Spencer), and Mary Taylor, as well as his sisters, Jean Fiorella (Ronnie), and Pam Simon (Allen), and his four grandchildren, Joshua Michael Emmert, Skye Sinchak, Andrea Catherine Sinchak, and Oliver Frey Santiago.

The viewing for Charles will be held at Hunt and Son’s Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 12:00 PM - 2 PM with service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that we honor Charles’ love for his bus driving job at North Montgomery Schools and make a donation to the school to aid in paying for school lunches for students in need. Charles was very colorblind, only able to see red, which became, naturally, his favorite color. The family invites all to wear red or rep North Montgomery School to honor his favorite part of his work day.
