C.J Brooks, 86, of Crawfordsville, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Brooks retired in 1988 from Ingress Plastene in Crawfordsville, where he worked in quality control.
He was a member and honorary deacon at First Baptist Church, Crawfordsville, where he served as
organist for 55 years until October 2010. He was an artist and member of the International Society of
Poets and the Famous Poets Society.
He was born on April 6, 1925 in Cleveland County, NC, to George E. and Aquilla Scruggs Brooks. He was
married to the former Joan Endicott on March 20, 1949 in Crawfordsville. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, David (Peggy) Brooks of Markle, IN; and Jon Brooks and Jeff
Brooks, both of Granada Hills, CA; and one daughter, Phyllis (Roger) Kenny of Crawfordsville; eight
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gladys Boroughs, Greensboro, NC; Edith
Hoffman, Shelby, NC; and Clara Lowe, Grover, NC.

A graveside service will be held 1:00pm Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Jim Ranard officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marie Canine Cancer Center, 1706 N. Lafayette Rd, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
