David L. Ballenger, 70, Darlington, passed away Sunday at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette after an extended illness.
He was born on November 7, 1944 in Sewickley, PA to Dwight C. and Betty (Rosensteel) Ballenger.
He was a graduate of Ohio State University College of Agriculture. He worked many years as a site manager and consultant in the hybrid seed corn industry and was a partner in Spectrum Seed Solutions.
Mr. Ballenger was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to many. His interests included horseback riding, travel, reading, history and politics. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church.
He married Marianne Darling on July 20, 1968 and she survives. Also surviving are his sons, Brent (Elena) and Troy (Amanda) along with grandchildren, Lucas, Morgan, Levi, Dylan and Kendal. He is also survived by his sister Barbara (Norm). He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lee Ballenger.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held 1:30 PM Saturday May 16th at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to Project Heifer International or the charity of your choice.
