Donald V. Bray, 89 of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday February 5, at Franciscan Alliance East in Lafayette.
Donald was retired from Wabash College Maintenance Department; he had also worked at RR Donnelly's, Herman Davis Chevrolet and Indiana Printing.
He was a veteran of the US Navy from 1946-48 having received the WWII Victory Medal. He had also been a member of the 1945 Semi State Basketball Team from Waynetown. He had served many years on the Waynetown Town Board and also the local Clown Ministry under his clown name Nod Yarb. He was a member of the American Legion. Donald had attended the Waynetown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Eastside Baptist Church and New Life Church.
He was born January 5, 1928 in Illinois to his parents Floyd and Edna Windmiller (Poynter) Bray.
He married Elizabeth Brown on July 1, 1946, she survives. Also surviving are his children Steve (Karen) Bray and Dona (Ron) Keeling both of Crawfordsville, Five grandchildren Alan (Sandi) Sarjent, Brook (Brad) Groves, Steven (Joy) Sarjent, LaCinda (Cale) Stephens and Daniel Keeling. He also has 9 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents and step father Everett Poynter, brothers Robert and Rocell, Sister Mary Anna Gibbs, and step sister Mary Edith Bray.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30pm Wednesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Gobin officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Grant Ave, Visitation will be from 11-1pm Wednesday.
Military Rites will be conducted.
