Donald Gene Gobel, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at his home in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was born on March 1st, 1932, and raised by Raymond W. and Mary Calvert-Harris of Crawfordsville. He married Mary Florence Largent on Jan 4, 1952. He is survived by his wife and two grown children, David Gobel and Cathryn Gobel-Taylor, his beloved cat, Mia; also, a sister, Carolyn Harris-Horney, and several nieces and nephews.

After being graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1950, he served as a Crawfordsville City Policeman for 23 years, and subsequently, Police Commissioner. He also attended several professional schools during his police career. Later he worked as a U.S. Marshal - Special Deputy first for Indianapolis and then for Lafayette Federal Courts, and then as an employee of several automobile companies in Crawfordsville.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Masonic Rights at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 8th at Hunt and Sons Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9th with Reverend Isaac Zull officiating, and burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
