Doris Ruth (Elliott) Brier passed away at home Saturday morning January 2nd.Her husband of 71 years, Jim Brier, was by her side. They were married on December 2, 1944.She was born in her grandparents' home on September 28th, 1923 to Orville and Nancy Elliott in New Maysville, Indiana. She is survived by husband James Brier; son Michael (Cheryl) Brier; daughter Cathy Coffing; sisters Wilma (Don) Vaught and Bonnie (Charles) Shea; and brother Earl (Ruby) Elliott; grandchildren Stacy Brier-O'Brien (Kevin), Sarah (Jeremy) Barnes, Kacy Brier, Brandon Jones, Riley Coffing and Caleb Coffing; great grandchildren Sophia Brier-Heimbach, Harley Brier-O'Brien, Zander Brier-O'Brien, Jackson Jones, Kennedy Coffing and Beckett Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack (Jean) Elliott and Harry (Kay) Elliott; sisters Ruby (Wilson) Vaught, Vivian (Tom) Stewart and Lois (Al) Rizzo.Although she helped Jim with his photography business, she devoted her life to raising their children and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also helped out with many nieces and nephews along the way. Nothing made her happier than family eventsincluding legendary family gatherings with her brothers and sisters that consisted of hours and hours of conversation and laughter. Christmas Eve celebrations with Ruby and Earl Elliott and our extended families brought special joy for 58 consecutive years.

A memorial service to honor the beloved Doris Brier will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The memorial service will take place at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, located at 107 North Grant Street in Crawfordsville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at Hunt & Son Funeral Home.
