Dorothy “Dot” Faye McCollom Vick, was born to Allen and Shirley McCollom on September 15, 1944, in Charleston Missouri. Dorothy was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away peacefully on what she called, ‘A glorious Sunday’ August 9, 2026, from cancer. She was the second of four siblings and maintained strong family connections throughout her life. She married the love of her life, the late Gordon Vick, on March 20, 1959, and went on to graduate from The House of James Beauty Academy in Indianapolis. While building a successful career as a beautician, she took pride in her role as devoted Pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Dorothy and Gordon served in various churches in multiple states and her faith was her solid foundation for daily living. Her life verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, extended family and her many friends. All those in her circle, whether family or friends, knew her as a loving, kind and generous individual who gave of herself unselfishly. Dorothy was always prepared with ‘Snicky Snacks’ to share with those who were hungry or needed a comfort treat. Traveling was her favorite hobby, and her bags were always packed and ready for the next adventure.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Tommy (Teri) Vick of Jonesboro, TN, Alan Vick of Crawfordsville, IN, and daughter Debbie (Rick) Schavietello of Crawfordsville, IN. She cherished her four grandchildren Samantha Kendrick (Joshua) Brownsburg, IN, Kaile (Mary) Thomas Crawfordsdville, IN, Blaine (Emily) Thomas, Avon, IN and Donald (Kerry) Vick, Greenwood IN, eight great-grandchildren Avery, Audrey, Nathan, Addie, Lily, Bennett, Brecken, Booker and her sister Sue Pittard of Okeechobee, Florida.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Johnny and Marshall McCollom; sister-in-law Gloria McCollom, brother-in-law Dave Pittard, and two granddaughters Tosha Vick and Sara March.
Family and Friends are invited to attend the Graveside service at 11 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Mount Pleasant Greenwood Cemetery, 734 N. Morgantown Rd. Greenwood, IN.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy’s wishes were that donations be directed to the Montgomery County Community Foundation 119 E Main Street, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 to support the loving community she called home her last few years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hunt and Son Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, IN
