Doyne Switzer Branstetter (Indianapolis) passed away peacefully on March 20, 2018 with family by her side. Born February 28, 1934, to Fred M. and Delzie Switzer, in Crawfordsville, IN, Doyne also resided in Darlington, IN; Anderson, IN; Chesterfield, IN; Anaheim, CA; Sebring, FL and WI in her lifetime. Doyne is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Robert "Barton" Branstetter.
Doyne is survived by her three children and their families, Barbara (Jim) Kew of Carmel Indiana, Phil (Harriet) Branstetter of Star Idaho, and Carol (Robert) Swithers of Jackson Mississippi. Doyne was the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer (Matthew) Spencer of Riverside California, Matthew (Heidi) Branstetter of San Diego California, Jeff Kew (fiancé Shannon Houser) of Indianapolis, Jackie Kew (fiancé Matthew Robinson) of Fishers, and Alex (Ann Marie) Swithers, Boynton Beach Florida. She was the loving grandmother of great grandchildren Austin Spencer and Aaron Spencer; and was looking forward to the births this year of 2 more great grandchildren Henry Barton Branstetter (May 2018) and Baby Swithers (June 2018).
Doyne is survived by her companion of 15 years, Bill Shields of Indianapolis, and his family. Doyne's sister Lois Switzer Millis Viehmann and brother Fred D. Switzer preceded her in death. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law James and Kathryn Branstetter, Wayne Branstetter, and Sharon (Joe) Archer. Sister-in-law Sandy Branstetter preceded in death.
Doyne was beloved by her nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends who also mourn her.
A graduate of Crawfordsville High School (Class of 1952), she continued her support of several hometown organizations throughout her life. Doyne was an active member of the Noble Street United Methodist Church in Anderson, IN for many years. She was employed for several years by Drs. Kepner and Smith in Chesterfield. An avid collector, she was a dealer in antique malls in Crawfordsville, Carmel and Noblesville, IN. Doyne's primary life occupation was as a mother of her children, actively supporting their activities. In later years, Doyne traveled the US frequently visiting family as much as possible.
Contributions may be made to the Darlington Public Library (Darlington, IN) or the Protestant Chapel, Marquette Senior Living Center (Indianapolis, IN).
Calling will be held Saturday March 24, 2018 from noon – 2 pm at Hunt and Son Funeral Home (Crawfordsville) with services beginning at 2 pm. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery (Crawfordsville) will follow the services. www.huntandson.com
