Obituary

Elisabeth Hudson (née Powers) of Crawfordsville, IN passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the age of 60. The daughter of Nancy Powers (née French) and Alden Powers, she was born in Indianapolis, IN, and grew up on the shoreline of Connecticut in Madison and Clinton. She graduated from The Morgan School in Clinton, CT, Class of 1979. During her senior year in high school, she spent time as an exchange student in Argentina where she became bilingual in Spanish, which would later help propel her career. She went on to attend Indiana University where she earned both her Bachelor's in Spanish and Master's of Social Work. Like her parents, Elisabeth devoted her life to helping others through her faith and through her work. She became a renowned social worker first specializing in children's trauma, and later addictions counseling - helping many individuals and their families on their journey to sobriety while mentoring other social workers. Beyond her work, she was a fervent advocate for civil rights, understanding intersectionality and that to achieve equality, "all boats must rise." She had a passion for genealogy and enjoyed the culinary arts, with a knack for the perfect wine pairing. She is survived by her loving husband, Harvey Hudson of Crawfordsville, IN; and her stepson and son-in-law, Brenden Hudson and Terry Michael of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by her siblings Annemarie and John Algozzine of Hancock, NH; Sean Powers of Keene, NH; and Stephen and Krista Powers of Scituate, MA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Alden Powers. A memorial service in Massachusetts will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local food bank. Elisabeth lived her life as Jesus explained to us, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'" Matthew 25:40.
