Eugene R. "Smokey" Tague, 95 died Tuesday at Wellbrooke Health and Wellness Center in Crawfordsville.
Born May 4, 1919 in Parke County he was the son of Arthur & Olive Ann Jackson Tague. On September 1, 1955 he was married to Dorothy J. Bannister who survives.
He was in the US Navy as a Torpedoman 1st Class, a World War II veteran and traveled around the world. Later he worked for Alcoa in Lafayette, IN and retired after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crawfordsville, life member of VFW Post 1431, Alcoa 25 year club, US Navy League, and a plank owner of USN Memorial in Washington DC.
Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie (Dennis) Ward of Crawfordsville; Three grandsons, Michael (Natalie) Ward of Crawfordsville, Brian (Allyson) ward of Fishers, IN, and Kyle Ward of Indianapolis, Two great grandsons Mason Ward of Crawfordsville and Camden Ward of Fishers. He is also survived by a sister. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
He was a wonderful Husband, Dad and Papaw.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Ranard and Rev. Isaac Zull officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-3 Friday. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Mausoleum with Military Rites.
