Floyd William Padgitt, 94, of Crawfordsville, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday at Whitlock House.
Mr. Padgitt was born Aug. 26, 1916 in Vermillion County, Ill. He was the son of Harry and Jane (Byerley) Padgitt.
He married Winifred Rodgers in 1943. She passed away in 1993.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe as an artillery observation and surveying unit.
He retired from R.R. Donnelly's in 1981 after 45 years. He began in printing and binding but worked most of his life in the billing department.
Important facts about deceased- He enjoyed church activities, especially the senior group, "The Keenagers", visiting with family and friends, televised sports, especially Purdue, Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs.
He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1957, where he was an active deacon for many years and an honorary deacon in recent times.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet Padgitt of Lebanon; and a son, Evan Padgitt of Ann Arbor, Mich.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. The Revs. Isaac Zull and James Ranard will officiate. Burial is at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
Friends and family can pay their respects from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
