Floyd Thacker, 80, Crawfordsville, died 6:10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Clare Medical Center.

Mr. Thacker was a farmer for McBee Farms and retired from Cherry Grove Heartland Co-op in 1988.

He was born April 18, 1926, at Burksville, Ky., to Burr and Sara Flowers Thacker. He married Peggy Cain on May 5, 1962. She died March 3, 2001.

Survivors include three sons, Floyd Jr. and Elvis, both of Burksville, and Roger, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Martha Ruffner, Crawfordsville, Barbara Shaw, Summer Shade, Ky., and Joan Long, Edmonton, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Kay Speer, Bedford; three stepsons, Kevin Woods, Corydon, Charles Sears, Birmingham, Ala., and Bruce Sears, Crawfordsville; a brother, Oddis, Mitchell; a sister, Pansy Long, Burksville; 24 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Four sisters and two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., with the Rev. Daniel Aldrich officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill South Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
