Franklin Dallas Allhands, 81, of New Richmond, passed away with his wife and three daughters at his side on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018. He was born May 15, 1937 in Crawfordsville, to the late Franklin D. and Regina (Herron) Allhands. He was a graduate of Coal Creek Central High School in New Richmond. He moved out west earning a degree in Business Education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ and a Masters in Counseling degree from Cal State LA. Franklin married Jacqueline on Sept. 5, 1959 and were blessed with three daughters while teaching and counseling at-risk teens in El Rancho Unified school system for 38 years. When he retired he continued to pursue his passions of antiques, and gardening while farming with his cousin Tyler Nannet in New Richmond, IN.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline; their children, Jerri Lynn (Cliff) Craft of Chino Hills, CA, Kristi (Jason) Fulton of Brookings, OR, and Cindi Light of Vacaville, CA; brother Phil (Laura) Allhands of West Linn, OR; and sister Joyce (Jim) Riser of Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; youngest sister Carolyn Haney; grandson Andrew; and nephew Jason Haney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. John Van Nuys. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. A graveside will be held immediately following the service at Oakland Cemetery.
