Gary M. Nelson, 56, of Bainbridge, died Wednesday, Jan. 27 after a four-year battle with cancer.

He was a farmer in Putnam County and had been a 19-year employee of R. R. Donnelly's as a machine technician. He was a member of Roachdale Christian Church and a 1972 graduate of North Putnam High School.

He was born Nov. 16, 1953 at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, the son of Robert Nelson and Dorothy Houser

Survivors include: his mother, Dorothy Houser, of Bainbridge; father and step-mother, Robert and Linda Nelson, of Russellville; friend, Kenda Boller, of Bainbridge; three daughters, Jill (Andy) Perkins, of Crawfordsville, Erin (Trent) Ritchey, of Bloomington, and Destynee Nelson, of Crawfordsville; half sisters, Debbie (Bill) Ireland. of Crawfordsville, Sheri (Terri) Franklin, of Fincastle; half brothers, Dan (Melanie) Nelson, of Williamsport, David (Jenny) Nelson, of Russellville; step-brother, Dr. William (Kathy) Houser, of Evansville; step-sister, Linda Meier, of Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Layne Nhi Perkins and Gus Ritchey.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, William Houser, of Bainbridge, and step-sister, Ruthann Cooper, of Winchester, CA.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, in Crawfordsville, with Rev. Ken Mattocks officiating. Burial for family will follow at Roachdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
