Dr. George W. Dimmick, 78, passed away Monday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with his family by his side. Dr. Dimmick was born August 14, 1927 to Loren Lee & Harriett Jane Gillespie Dimmick in Constantine, Michigan. He is a 1945 graduate of Constantine High School. He served in the US Navy from 1945-48. Dr. Dimmick graduated in 1957 from Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He worked at the Portland Veterinary Clinic for 17 years, and as Director of Meat & Poultry Division of Indiana State Board of Animal Health from 1975-1998. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he was active in the Choir and a certified United Methodist Lay Speaker, he was also a member of the Emmaus Community, American Legion, Coached Little League Baseball, Sugar Creek Squares, and Volunteer at Cradle of Forestry-Pisgah, NC.
He married Marlyn Elmore Robbins January 3, 1975, she survived. He is also survived by his children- Georgia (Clint) Welding and their son Geof of Painted Post, NY. John (Penny) Dimmick and their sons John and Joshua of Indianapolis, IN. Joseph (Carol) Dimmick and their children Brian and Stacy of Lansing, MI. Marsi (Kevin) Myers and their children Daniel and Kendra of Crawfordsville, IN. Dr. Dimmick is also survived by his brothers Edward Dimmick of Constantine, MI and Stan (Dollie) Dimmick of Arlington, TX.
He was preceded in death by a son Franklyn W. Dimmick, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Saturday June 10, 2006 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 110 S. Blair St., Crawfordsville, IN with the Rev. Phil Collier officiating. Friends may call 4-8pm Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home.
