Obituary
George Rickey, 102, Crawfordsville, died 12:35 a.m. Monday at Williamsburg Healthcare.
Mr. Rickey was a custodian at Hose Elementary from 1955-77, then worked at Elston Bank until retiring in 1997. He was a member of Christ's United Methodist Church.
He was born Jan. 31, 1905 at Tuscola, Ill. to Benjamin F. and Nancy Cook Rickey. On Feb. 15, 1928, he married Thelma C. Stevens at Tuscola, Ill. She died Dec. 20, 1989.
He is survived by a son, Lawrence (Beverly), Indianapolis; and a daughter, Sharon L. (Paul) Largent, Crawfordsville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. A son, Wayne F.; a daughter in law, Virginia Rickey; and a sister, Marjorie Rickey are deceased.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. John Pettigrew officiating. Following the services, Mr. Rickey will be cremated. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date. Visitation hours are 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ's United Methodist Church.
