Obituary

Glenn Lee Armstrong, 88, of Crawfordsville, passed away Friday at 2:15 a.m. at Lane House Nursing Home.

Mr. Armstrong was born Dec. 9, 1919 at Tuscola, Ill., to Floyd A Armstrong and Kate (Rutherford) Armstrong.

He graduated from Tuscola High School. He married Margaret M Stenger in Jan. of 1945. He farmed and raised Angus cattle until his retirement in 1976. He then worked for Montgomery Ward and volunteered for St. Clare Medical Center's Auxiliary Help Line. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as a radio operations maintenance officer. While stationed at Furth Airbase in Germany he attended the war crime trials at Nuremberg. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, VFW and American Legion Post #72 where he was a lifetime member and retired past commander.

He is survived by son, Thomas (Nancy) Armstrong; daughters, Elizabeth "B.J." (Paul) Parry and Donna (Doug) Kellerman, all of Crawfordsville; sister, June Black of Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Robert, John, Archie and Donald.

A private family service is planned at Calvary Cemetery Monday with the Rev. David Hellman officiating.
