Grant M. "Bud" Rhode Jr. 89, of Columbus IN, passed away on March 23, 2007. Bud was a long time resident of Crawfordsville. Bud was a resident of the Willow Crossing Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Columbus IN. He was born in Chicago, IL to Grant M Rhode Sr. and Elizabeth " Alice " Fuchs on July 15, 1917. He moved to Crawfordsville to attend Wabash College . On June 12, 1938 He married Alice "Holloway" of Crawfordsville. They had two children, Patricia and Phillip.

Mr. Rhode retired from Midstates Steel and Wire in 1980 as a mettalurgist.

Bud was an avid golfer and was very proud to be one of the first two golfers to join the Journal Review's Hole-in-One Club after making a hole in one just five days after his 66th birthday in 1983.



Mr. Rhode was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army Air Force Cadet Program.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, and a sister, Kathryn "Rhode" Fritz. Bud is survived by a younger sister, Janet Nelson and her husband, Len and son, of Gilbert, MN, daughter, Patricia "Rhode" Stonecipher and her husband Don of Columbus IN and son Phillip Rhode and his wife Penelope of Clever MO.; 3 Grandchildren: David Stonecipher and his wife Ann of St. Louis MO, Vicki "Stonecipher" Quinn and her husband Michael of Hamburg New York, Jo Anne Haire of Springboro OH, and 2 step Grandchildren, Jeffry Byrd of Downers Grove, IL, and Jennifer Nelson of Hidden Valley Lake, CA, and 11 great-grandchildren.



Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. John Pettigrew on Friday March 30th at 11:00 AM at the Hunt and Sons Funeral Home in Crawfordsville. There will be open visitation and viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Crawfordsville.
