Guy H. Fairchild, 89, of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday at his home.

He retired from R. R. Donnelley in 1984 as the foreman in the art department after 43 years.

He served in the U.S.. Army in World War II, serving in the Engineering Corps, Air Corps and the 76th Infantry, which he served with during the Battle of the Bulge.

Memberships included Covington Assembly of God, Crawfordsville Country Club, American Legion for over 60 years serving as post commander in 1964, and Elks.

He was an avid golfer here and in Florida with eight holes in one during his life.

He loved going to the Athena Center Fitness club.

He was a Covington High School Graduate

Born Jan. 18, 1922, in Covington, IN, he was the son McKinley & Rebecca Romine Fairchild. He married Mary Shell on Jan. 26, 1946; she passed away March 18, 1991.

Survivors Guyanna (Jack) Spurway, a daughter, in Crawfordsville; Mark (Roseanne) Fairchild, a son, in Clayton, IN; Robert (Anita) Fairchild, a brother, in Covington; four sisters, Marie (John) Layton, in Williamsport, Carol (Mike) Powell, in Lafayette, Doris Jean Hall, in Indianapolis, Susan Misenheimmer, in Council Grove, KS; three grandchildren, Natalie Fairchild, Stephanie (Joshua) Ruwet, Catherine (Brad) Hepler; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Gurley,2 brothers Mack and Earl Fairchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Fairchild. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery North with Military Rites.

Visitation hours will be 11 to 2, Saturday.
