Obituary
Herbert A. Schilling, 75, Crawfordsville, died Monday at St. Clare Medical Center.
Mr. Schilling retired in 1984 from Crawfordsville schools, working in maintenance. He served in the Air Force from 1950-54 in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion and a 1950 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
He was born July 13, 1932 at Lafayette to the late Gulvin R. and Grace M. Tarter Schilling. On Dec. 31, 1963, he married Helen Surber at Crawfordsville. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda Bowman, Bonifay, Fla.; Terri (Howard) Farley, Darlington; and Cindy (Christopher) Close, Los Angeles; two sons, Kurt Surber, Crawfordsville; and John (Marla) Schilling, Crawfordsville; a brother, Gulvin Schilling, Lafayette; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral arrangements are scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Randles officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation hours are 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
