Herschel Newkirk, 67 of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

He was born August 3, 1956 in Lebanon, IN to Lloyd & Helen Walker Newkirk. Herschel was a retired big screen technician. He was an active member of the Sugar Creek Radio Control Flying Club where he served as secretary.

In 1975 he married the love of his life Teresa Fletcher, she survives. Also surviving are his children Angela Roberts of Westfield; Rodney (Ashley) Newkirk of Crawfordsville; Cassie (Nick) Kader of Crawfordsville and Darrel (Meagan) Newkirk of New Ross.  He has a sister Janet (Don) Armbruster of Crawfordsville and a sister-in-law Sheryl Newkirk. Herschel was Papaw to 12 grandchildren TJ, Reese, Cayden, Kailynn, Wilder, Alexia, Ethan, Veeonna, Marlee, Starla, Gabriel, and Temperance, and loved every minute of it. He had a special place in his heart for his 3 dogs Precious, Max, and Rascal.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Marion Newkirk.

A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, September 10 at the Lake Holiday Club House from 2-5 p.m.
