Obituary

Hobert Alfred Mennen, 90, of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday July 12, in St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette.
He was born in Lafayette on August 10, 1920, to Herman and Pearl Burton Mennen.
He played basketball for New Richmond High school, graduating in 1938.
He also graduated from Purdue University's Agriculture Short Course.
He married Margaret P. Demoret on December 28, 1941, she survives.
He was a farmer all of his life and worked alongside his son Hobert Jr. in his later years.
He was a member of Smartsburg Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder, and went on many mission trips. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing, riding motorcycles, and going on trips with their life-long friends.
Along with his wife, Margaret, he is survived by two daughters, Trudy (Brooks) Mennen Freeman of Sedalia, CO; and Carolyn (James) Mennen Fritz of Frankfort, one son, Hobert (Jacqi) Mennen Jr. of Crawfordsville. Eight Grandchildren, Trevor Carter of Indianapolis; Jennifer Kaufman of Dallas, TX; Colleen Ster of San Diego, CA; Chad Freeman of Sedalia, CO; Lee Fritz of Chicago, IL; Megan Girard of Buckeye, AZ; Tory Mennen of Crawfordsville; Clayton Mennen of Crawfordsville, and 15 Great Grand Children. A daughter Rosalie Mennen Carter preceded him in death in 2005.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Parks officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery North. Friends may call from 12-2 Friday at the funeral home.
