Homer Max Wilkinson, 85 of Crawfordsville passed away Monday, May 18 at Ben Hur Health and Rehab. He was born March 6, 1935, in Crawfordsville to Behmer M. & Emma Margaret Foxworthy Wilkinson.
Homer was a 1954 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He served in the Indiana National Guard, Darlington Unit as a Spec 3. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Past President of Indiana Shetland Breeders Association, Member of National American Saddlebred Association. Past member of Eagles.
Homer retired as a supervisor from Inland Container, he worked for several years at South Montgomery Schools and also Thrifty Supply. He owned his own business for 10 years, Hom-Ka Heating.
Over the years he enjoyed showing ponies, working on his tractors, and having coffee at Casey's.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Katie (Nutt) Wilkinson for 64 years, she survives.
Also surviving are his children S. Max (Terrill) Wilkinson, Elesa F (Bret) Ransdell, Margaret A. (Dave) Bonebrake, and Elizabeth K (Tim) Redenbaugh. He has one brother Bob W. Wilkinson, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Poppie will be missed by his family greatly.
He was preceded in death by his brother Frank Wilkinson, twin sister Helen May, and sister Rosie Wilkinson.
Cremation was chosen with a private family graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery North with Pastor Brian Campbell officiating. A going home celebration will be held at a later date at First United Methodist Church.
