Irene West, 100, of Vero Beach, Fla. and formerly of Crawfordsville died Monday at the VN Hospice House in Vero Beach, Fla.
Mrs. West was born on Jan. 25, 1907 in Valparaiso.
She was married to her husband Lowell for 45 years. He preceded her in death.
Her husband Lowell was owner of West Supermarket for more than 20 years.
Her volunteer work in Crawfordsville included Methodist Thrift Shop, Docent for the Historical Society and she was a pink lady.
Memberships here 50-year member of First united Methodist Church, Crawfordsville Country Club, Psi Iota Xi social sorority and in Vero Beach she was a member of the community church and their Christ Care Group.
She was an avid bridge player. She loved to travel and saw much of the world.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Meeks of Vero Beach, Fla.; sons, John of Vero Beach, Fla. and Tom of Temple, Texas; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Pettigrew officiating. A private burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
