Iris A. Mitchell, 78, Crawfordsville, died 4:27 a.m. Thursday at
St. Clare Medical Center.
Mrs. Mitchell was an RN, In-service Director at St. Elizabeth
Hospital in Danville, Ill., and Montgomery County Health Nurse
from 1977-79.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church Nurses
Association. She was educated at Watseka, Ill., and went to
nursing school at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill.
She was born Oct. 11, 1930 in Watseka, Ill., to Martin and
Agnes Fanning Sobkoviak. She married James Mitchell Feb. 7,
1952 in Bloomington, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are sons Jay Mitchell, Terre Haute, and
Joseph Mitchell, Indianapolis; daughter Susan Allison, Crawfordsville;
five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m.Tuesday at St.
Bernard's Catholic Church with Father David Hellman officiating.
Cremation will follow service. Friends may call 5-8 p.m.
Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home.
