Obituary

ack Junior Abrams of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed on Feb. 16, 2023.

He was born Sept. 4, 1927, to Earl and Amy Abrams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Charles and Harry; and sisters, Matilda Anderson, Amy Burson-Jackson and Ruth Johnson; his wives, Betty and Alice; son Richard; step-children, Devin Beauchamp and Kathy Owens; grandson Tom Fox; and three nephews.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Bowman, Ora "Jim" (Colleen) Sherman, Pamla Jewell,

Jacqueline Abrams, Andrea (Eric) Kruger and Jack Charles Abrams; step-children, Richard (Mary) Beauchamp, Scott Beauchamp, Lori (Jon) Ayling and Cindy (Rusty) Smith; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and
14 nieces and nephew.

He joined the Navy in October 1945 serving at Corpus Christy and later in Guam; where he was a weather specialist, tracking hurricanes and cyclones. After discharge he worked as a machine set-up, janitor, machine operator, supervisor, a part-time butcher for many years a Terrill supermarket in Marcellus, and tool and die maker at Armstrongs in Three Rivers; retiring in 1991. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing. He belonged to the American Legend and the VFW, where he was Post Commander for several years.

He married Betty Gene Sherman on March 3, 1951, raising their children in the Marcellus area. After her death he married Alice Beauchamp on July 14, 1991 and resided in the Kalamazoo area later moving back to Marcellus and then to Crawfordsville, where he resided with his daughter Pam.

He will be cremated and interned in Howardsville Cemetery alongside his wife Betty. A celebration of life will take place later.
