The one constant surrounding much of Jim's life was the love of the outdoors, no matter the weather condition.  Jim earned the honor of Eagle Scout in his youth and continued to enjoy working and simply being outdoors throughout his life.

Surviving family are his daughter, Stephanie and Todd Lemke of Austin, Texas with two grandsons (Kyle and Max); son Stephen and Jennifer Cantrell of Peoria, Illinois with one granddaughter (Ella); one granddaughter, Grace Vaughn of Monrovia, Indiana; brother, David and Gail Cantrell of Fort Meyers, Florida.  James is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael Cantrell, his second wife, Susan Veatch Cantrell, and a son, James D. Cantrell.

Friends are invited to a visitation from 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 1306 E Main St, Crawfordsville, Indiana.  A funeral mass service will be held at 1 p.m., followed by internment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
