James "Jim" Robert Deckard, 84, Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning at Williamsburg Healthcare.
He was a Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Manager for Montgomery, Vigo and Hendricks counties, retiring as a career agent.
In 1945-1946 he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
Memberships included First Baptist Church; he had been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, The Scottish Rite where he was a Master Mason, Parke County Low 12 Club and he was the on the board of directors for The Sportsman's Club.
Born Oct. 12, 1926, at Lyons, he was a son of Glessie J. and Julia Belle (English) Deckard. He attended Switz City High School and later married Mary Sander, who survives.
Survivors include a son, Bob Deckard; daughters, Susan Keller, Kathy Stanton, Jody King and Ruth Alexander; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and a grandchild, Christy Stanton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Isaac Zull officiating and military rites by the VFW and American Legion to follow.
