James Dickerson, 92, son of Frank and Hiltred Weliver Dickerson, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

He was born Feb. 19, 1926. He was a 1944 graduate of Crawfordsville High School.

He spent two years in the service from 1944-1946 in the European Theatre, serving in France and Germany

He worked at RR Donnelley as a preliminary technician for 46 years, retiring in 1991.

He married Marjorie Hester in 1947. She passed away in 2009 after 62 years of marriage.

Brothers Frank, Howard and Don are deceased.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth (Mark) Smith of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Patricia (Rick) Jackson of Crawfordsville, and Cathy (Marty) Nelson of Otterbein; six grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great granddaughter in September.

He was a member of the Bryon Cox Post 72 American Legion for more than 70 years and a member of the Donnelley Club.

He was a hacker golfer and a poor bowler but was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with visitation at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
