James Heinzman

Jun 27, 1956 — Oct 13, 2026

Westfield, IN

James Allen Heinzman (Jim), 70, of Westfield, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, in his Westfield home. He was born June 27, 1956.

Jim was a husband and father, and to nearly everyone who knew him, a true friend. He possessed an extraordinary gift for music. As a young man he sang gospel songs with the Fishermen Quartet; he shared that same gift each Sunday at church, playing piano and organ and touching the hearts of countless congregants who still remember the beauty he brought to worship.

He worked for many years in the insurance business. While the details of the work itself rarely entered conversation, the people he met along the way always did – spoken of with genuine fondness. Jim cherished friendship and worked hard to keep those relationships alive. He also cared deeply for the memory of others. Driving through Carmel or Westfield, he could point to nearly any house and share a story about the person who once lived there. He also practiced the quiet, nearly lost art of placing flowers on the graves of those who had gone before him.

Jim was a wonderful cook whose love of food and people came together in the meals he prepared. He hosted dinners, delivered food in times of celebration or hardship, and was careful to make sure no one spent Thanksgiving alone. Many will long remember the comfort of his homemade noodles and the warm welcome of his holiday table.

He loved spending time outside and making his yard look beautiful. He found joy in artwork, plays, concerts, the symphony, trips to Florida, special vacations in Ireland, and in simply sharing time with loved ones. His mornings often began on the porch with coffee and a daily devotional. Above all, Jim loved Jesus and carried the hope of being held in the endless love of his Heavenly Father for eternity. Jim’s life was marked by music, hospitality, gift-giving, steadfast friendship, and faith in the only One capable of going through life without sin. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity and love that will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched.

He is survived by his husband, Rob, and his son, Aaron, both of Westfield, and a sister, Wanda Clos of Cicero, as well as several extended family members.
