James Eugene Stewart, 86, of Crawfordsville passed
away Monday at Williamsburg Healthcare.
He was born October 10, 1928 in Putnam
County to Landon and Ada Mae
(Hopkins) Stewart. He was a graduate
of Roachdale High School.
Mr. Stewart married Mary Louise
Arnold. She survives.
He started working at Comb's motor
service as a mechanic which he eventually
bought and continued on until his
retirement. He also served in the U.S. Army in Korea,
where he was a member of the 44th Engineer's Construction
Division.
He held memberships in Young's Chapel, American
Legion and VFW.
Survivors include children, Ron (Linda) Stewart and
Janet (Richard) Gilstrap, both of Crawfordsville; four
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three
sisters.
Visitation is set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for
10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will follow at Oak
Hill Cemetery North with military honors by the VFW,
American Legion and U.S. Army. Memorial contributions
may be made to Young's Chapel.
