Janet Carol Cox peacefully passed away at the age of 84 on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, after an extended illness.

Janet was born Sept. 10, 1935, at Columbus, Indiana, to Forrest Herschel and Nancy Louise VanVactor Skinner. She graduated in 1953 from Greencastle High School. She married Charles Cox on July 2, 1955, at the First Christian Church, Greencastle.

After moving to Crawfordsville in 1956, she worked for Dr. Wesley Shannon MD for 23 years, Dr. Bob Smiley DVM and then retired from Bank One. She loved to read, embroidery and go antiquing. But, most of all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her husband and three children, Mark Cox, Diana (Dan) Barnhart and Mary Cox. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Cox, Kyle Barnhart, Stacy Cox, Kailyn Cox and Jordanne Willett; and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Pam Billingsley of Illinois, also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Katherine Scott, RuthAnn Hammond and Charlotte Estes.

No memorial services will be held.

Donations may be made in her honor to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County or to Villalobos Rescue Center, New Orleans.
