Obituary

Janet "Jan" Crowder King of Crawfordsville died December 24. She was born August 18, 1932 in Indianapolis, daughter of Donald Claybourne Crowder and Charlotte Marie Brown Crowder.

Jan graduated from Shortridge High School. She attended DePauw University, graduating in 1954 with a B.A. in Sociology. She pledged Alpha Omicron Phi while at DePauw.

Jan moved to Crawfordsville in 1960 after marriage. She joined Tri Kappa and was the owner/operator of The Yarn Shop. Jan was employed by the Crawfordsville School Corporation. She was a secretary at Crawfordsville High School for over 20 years. She retired in 1999.

Jan volunteered at the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum and the Taste of Montgomery County.

Jan is survived by her daughters Cathy E (Daryl) Delp, Karen S. (Doug) Haag, Deb King, Grandchildren Jason Cox, Stacy Sales, and Samuel Durman, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a family graveside service will be conducted at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery County Community Foundation-Lew Wallace Endowment, or the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
