Obituary

Jim (Toby) Clore of Crawfordsville, IN passed away Thursday evening, December 19, 2019. Jim was born November 6, 1936 to Austin Charles Clore and Georgia (Cole) Clore. Jim graduated from Crawfordsville High School and married Martha Jane (Eads) Clore June 22, 1956. Janie was his childhood sweetheart from Whitesville Elementary School and he remained married to her until his dying day. Together they raised 4 children; Kirk (Mary) Clore of Crawfordsville, Shelly (Chet) Leatherman of Russellville, Derrick Clore (Gretchen Lightfoot) of Carmel, and Christy (Tom) Stevens of Crawfordsville. Jim made a career at R. R Donnelley & Sons earning his apprenticeship and rising in the ranks to supervision and production management. Jim gave 44 years to Donnelley's and he lost his hand there in an industrial accident. Those who knew him also knew he could do more with one hand than most men did with two. Jim enjoyed his family, mushroom hunting, Louis L'Amour books, selling antiques on Ebay, and a good game of cards (not always in that order). Jim was known for his many Op-Eds in the local newspaper where he articulated, in short order and in a most unique, direct and common-sense manner, what most politicians couldn't in a lifetime. Jim worked hard his entire life to selflessly provide a life for his family far better than the one he knew growing up. Jim had a deep faith in Christ with a huge heart for those in need but avoided religion at all cost. Those who knew him understood he was a rare breed…a straight shooter who grew up watching his pop leave to fight in WWII while he and siblings helped his mom make ends meet at home. As a son of the greatest generation, he understood the meaning of hard work, true toughness, respect, and responsibility.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Crowder of Mellott, IN. He leaves behind a wife of 63 years, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, a sister Delta (Decky) Owens of Romney, IN; a brother Charles (Judy) Clore of Springfield, MO; 5 nieces and a nephew.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27 th at Hunt & Son Funeral Home from 12pm to 2pm with funeral services immediately following.
