John W. Boyles, 84, of Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday at Franciscan-St. Elizabeth Health-Crawfordsville.
He was born Sept. 1, 1931 in Hartford City, the son of Edgar and Anna (Anderson) Boyles.
He graduated from Hartford City High School and I.U School of Business. He married Dixie L. Dolvin in 1953. She survives.
He had worked for Steel Industries/IMPEX, had been controller for Johnston Glass in Hartford City and retired from RIS Paper Company where he had been controller and comptroller. He is a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the Elks. He had been involved with Junior Achievement and was a member of Indiana Association of Credit Managers, where he was a past president. He enjoyed reading, fishing, crossword puzzles, playing the piano and spending time at his cottage on Lake George.
In addition! to his wife, he is survived by children, Bob (Denise) Boyles of Noblesville, Beth (Dan) Strasser of Columbus, Ohio, Paula (Jon) Nelson of Naples, Fla., and Missy (Tom) Strasser of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Judy (Dudley) Luzadder of Fremont; six grandchildren, Laurie, Ben, Megan, Abby, Matt and Ryan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Carl.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Lewis will officiate. He will be cremated after the services. Friends and family can pay their respects from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
