John F. Daley of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday morning on his 87th birthday at IU Arnett in Lafayette.
He was born March 3, 1929 to Mike and Marie (Cuvelier) Daley at their home in Terre Haute.
He married Nancy Rader on November 27, 1954 in Terre Haute. She survives.
John attended Gershmeyer Tech High School in Terre Haute. He served in the United States Army in the 1950's. He worked as a Tube Mill Operator at Alcoa for 39 1/2 years.
John enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and was know as "The Duke". He enjoyed watching IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts football.
John is survived by his wife, children Susan Daley, Joanie (John) York, Carla (Brian) Lewis, Marianne (Scott) Murphy, Mike (Beth) Daley, Rob Daley, Nancy (Andrew) Nunan, daughter in law Gina Daley, grandchildren Matthew, Joshua, and Grant Daley, Dillon (Amanda) York, Kayla (Kurt) Johnson, Jeremiah (Renee), Joe (Krystal), and Jenifer Lewis, Derrick and Bethany (fiancé Heston) Murphy, Jacob and Emily Daley, Brock Daley, and Ava Nunan. Great grandchildren Lilly and Emery Lewis, Harper, Asher, and Ever Lewis, Gabe and Antares Westfall, Freddie Lewis, and Carter Daley. He is also survived by brother David (Vesta) Daley.
He was preceeded in death by his two sons John Michael and Rick Daley, his parents, brothers Alfred, George, and Paul, sisters Nellie, Marie, Pauline, and Joan.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 6th from 2 to 5pm at Hunt and Son funeral home in Crawfordsville. Services will be at 10am Monday led by his nephew Rev. Paul Phipps. Burial will follow at 2pm at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
