John H. Gianakis passed away Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He was born June 14, 1939 in Crawfordsville to Harry & Carolyn Gianakis. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1957. Mr. Gianakis served in the US Army from 1957-1959. He returned to Crawfordsville and ran the New York Bargain Center & Shoe Repair. He also worked at Krogers for 19 years. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, National Rifle Association, & Crawfordsville Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn and sons Harry John Gianakis, and David Gianakis and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 29th at 2:00pm at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Father Alexis Miller officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Rites at graveside by the American Legion- VFW.
