John Albert Naylor, 73, of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at St. Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville.
He was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Keokuk, IA., to the late Samuel and Jean Naylor.
He left behind his loving wife whose marriage spanned through the years of 1966-1994, Cheryl Naylor.
John will be missed and is survived by his son Kane Naylor of Anderson; daughter Leanne and husband Tom Dutton of Lillington, N.C. He leaves behind one grandchild, Nicholas Dutton of Fayetteville, N.C. He also leaves behind his loving companion, Lanni Senn.
John is survived by his Aunt Nancy, and his seven brothers and sisters; Samuel Naylor and wife Lilly of Carthage, Ill.; Richard Naylor and Trixel of Panama, S.A; Linda Gallaher and husband Rick of Clarkston, Wash., Sally Speer and husband Sam of Quincy, Ill.; Joseph Naylor and wife Hei of Madison, Ala.; Jay Naylor and Anita of Jacksonville, Ill., Nancy Crose and her husband Tim of Carthage, Ill. He leaves behind multiple nephews and nieces.
John retired after 25 years as a professor of economics from Wabash College in 2006. During his tenure at Wabash he served as the Department of Economics Chair serving as a mentor and leader. John received numerous professional recognitions for his work in the field of economics and in social sciences in general.
His hobbies were gardening, painting, carving, playing tennis, and most recently world travel.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave, Crawfordsville, IN.
