John Wise passed peacefully into the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 40 years, Carolynn Wise, and many of his children, and even the medical staff at Witham Memorial Hospital, whom he had charmed during his stay there.
John was born Sept. 10, 1937, at Washington, Ind., to Bernard L. Wise and Helen (Davidson) Wise, both deceased. He also was preceded in death by an older brother, Paul, and a grandson. John boasted that he was blessed, not only by his five children from a previous marriage (Connie Weddle), but also by the privilege of being the step-father to Kurt Baumann of Crawfordsville, Kris Baumann of Lafayette and Kim (Mark) Weilman of Indianapolis. In addition to his beloved wife and three step-children, John is survived by all five of his children, John F. (Ann) Wise of Oklahoma, Steven K. Wise of Crawfordsville, Timothy T. Wise of Kentucky, Shari Wassmer of Florida and Shannon (Jeff) Furr of Crawfordsville.
John retired from a long career in IT at RR Donnelley and Sons. He was an avid golfer, a devout Christian, a devoted husband and a generous and loving father. He also was a proud and loving grandfather and great-grandfather to many surviving grandchildren.

Family and friends may call 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. A funeral that celebrates a life well-lived will follow at 4 p.m.
