Obituary

Joseph Ray Billingsley of Shannondale, passed away September 28 th 2:43am at Mercy Health in Toledo Ohio. Born to the late Fred Billingsley, Katherine (Sparks) Billingsley Black April 24 th 1957 Indianapolis Indiana.

Companioned early on with Lisa Shaffer she survives. Married to the late Rachel Martin. She parted in death 2005 Then Married Teresa Shelton Cary (2010) divorced, she survives.

He was a veteran of the US Army. In his early years he would join Century 21 Carnival Shows and travel with his father Fred. He worked for Pelican trash service for many years until it became Waste Management, he later retired from Waste Management and started his business with his wife Rachel, Joe's Truck and Trailer Repair of Crawfordsville, after the passing of his wife he settled into retirement for a brief time until buying once again into the Carnival Shows. Joe loved putting smiles on the little faces as he would set up game trailers and bouncy houses in Southern Michigan and Northern Ohio. Recently he worked alongside Ron Abel with D&R Shows. Joe was described as one of the last of the Original Old School Carnies. He was loved by many, special thank you to Rob Connelly for sharing Joe's memory with Pounce-Matics Amusematics. Survived by Deuce his Pitbull and Tim his Amazon Parrot. He loved fishing, hunting, anything outdoors, he loved his family, Joe is also survived by his children, Christine Billingsley of Veedersburg, Robert Pierce Crawfordsville, Leon Billingsley (Jessica), Andrew Billingsley Chicago. 13 grandchildren, sister Karen S. Stewart of Crawfordsville, Uncle Richard Day Kentucky. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Also proceeded in death are parents & step dad Claude E. Black, wife Rachel, daughter Galetea, sons Freddie & Joey Slagle, sisters Kim Billingsley, Sandy Busse, Diane Mills, brother Mike Billingsley.

Graveside services will be held at 3pm Friday at Oak HIll Cemetery South with Pastor Steven Lee officiating A graveside visitation will be at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hunt & Son Funeral Home to assist with expenses. Military rites will be conducted by Byron Cox Post #72 Honor Guard.
